April 10, 2008 Project Update

Human Resource Information System (HRIS) vendors have been on campus presenting their products.  We will continue HRIS product reviews throughout the months of April and May.  Evaluations collected at presentations given April 1st through 3rd and April 8th through 10th will be tabulated and areas for further review will be identified.   It is expected that some members of the campus community will make site visits to clients of these products in the near future.   If you are interested in more information, visit the Resources link for sample projects from other universities and some product information.  Please continue to visit this page for more updates.

HRIS In a Nutshell

What

Illinois State University is in the process of selecting a vendor for a new Human Resource Information System (HRIS) which will be used to support the University’s Human Resources, Payroll , Budgeting and Planning and Institutional Research functions.   In addition, it is expected the software will provide better access to data and the availability of self-service options for users all across the University.

Why

Our current HRIS infrastructure is over 25 years old. We are unable to add new features and functions due to its aging infrastructure. The system will offer faster and easier access to human resource data (e.g. viewing departmental  staffing data) and the ability to perform some transactions online (e.g., submitting timecards).

When

The initial vendor visits are scheduled for April 2008.  Once a vendor selection is made the implementation process will begin.  We will implement the new system over a number of years and phases.
